[origin: WO2013054032A1] The invention relates to a manual device for applying a coating to a substrate by tape, comprising an applicator end piece (14) fitted to a housing and projecting from said housing, the end piece having a tongue extending in a longitudinal direction (X) and a lateral direction (Y), an application portion (144) being formed at the distal end of the tongue, the application portion comprising an application edge (114b), and a tape disposed longitudinally around the end piece, enveloping the tongue so as to bypass the application portion, the width (Lpa) of the application portion being greater than the width (Lr) of the tape. The width (Lba) of the application edge is greater than or equal to the width of the tape and less than the width (Lpa) of the application portion, recesses (145) being formed in the application portion in the vicinity of the lateral ends of the application edge, a width being measured in the lateral direction.
