[origin: EP2767672A2] The device (10) has a support device (12) which is mounted on mast (20). The mast is provided with a carriage (22) in which a rotary drive unit (24) is arranged for rotating a drill string (30). A carriage drive is provided for moving the carriage along the mast. A control device (80) is provided for controlling the carriage drive so as to output the control signal to the carriage drive such that the load force of drill string is adjusted corresponding to predetermined value.
