[origin: WO2013057140A1] The invention relates to a silencer for a firearm with an adapter unit (2, 3, 4, 5), by means of which the silencer is detachably mounted on the muzzle of a handgun barrel or on an intermediate unit mounted thereon, in particular a flash suppressor (1), the silencer further comprising a damping core (7) to reduce noise and an upstream first expansion chamber for gas decompression, which is enclosed by a casing (6, 8), characterised in that the part (7a) of the damping core (7) forming the first expansion chamber (7ex) is attached in a detachable manner by means of a screw connection to the adapter unit (2, 3, 4, 5), wherein the part (7a) that forms the first expansion chamber (7ex) contains contact surfaces and/or recesses (7w) for interaction with a tool, and the part (7a) can be screwed onto or into the adapter unit (2, 3, 4, 5), wherein a casing segment, in particular, a collar (7kc) integrally formed on the casing (6, 8), is clamped in the assembled state between the adapter unit(2, 3, 4, 5) and the part (7a) forming the first expansion chamber.
