[origin: WO2013064785A1] The invention relates to a method for treating a cladding, which contains a sintered material made up entirely or partially of sintered calcium hydride, the method including a step during which the sintered material is placed in contact with a reaction mixture containing steam, carbon dioxide, and a chemically inert gas, said step being carried out for a time long enough to enable the sintered calcium hydride to be transformed into a calcium carbonate powder. The treatment method according to the invention makes it possible to produce chemically inert waste and to limit the amount of waste obtained while enabling said waste to be discharged or recycled by suitable systems.
