[origin: EP2778081A1] The system (1) has a deep-drawing packaging machine (100) including a molding station (4), a loading area (6), a sealing station (8) and a packaging sorting unit (9) successively arranged on each other in a production direction (R). A folding device (13) folds a folding package (15) around a perforated fold line. An engaging device (14) is arranged adjacent to the folding device in the direction, and designed so that a closure element of a package half is brought into cooperation with another closure element of another package half so that the package is held together in a folded condition. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a packaging system.
