[origin: EP2778287A2] The machine (1) has a chassis (11) for movement across a surface (5) to be cleaned. A cleaning unit (9) for cleaning the surface is mounted on the chassis and moved by a lifting device between a raised rest position and a lowered cleaning position. A liquid supply device includes a water tank connected to an outlet at the cleaning unit. A valve is placed between the tank and the outlet, where closing of the valve interrupts the connection between the outlet and the tank. The lifting device is coupled to the actuator that closes the valve when the cleaning unit is not in the cleaning position.
