A head-up display device (12) includes a housing (18), an image light emitter (48) disposed in the housing (18) for emitting image light (202) representing an image, and a mirror (28) disposed in the housing (18) for reflecting the image light (202) in order to display the image light (202) as a virtual image (300) in a front visual field of the user (150) outside of the housing (18). A light-transmissive layer (50) is disposed in the housing (18) on a light path (200) of the image light (202). The light-transmissive layer (50) has a light transmittance that is progressively higher toward a center region thereof.
