[origin: WO2013072398A1] Disclosed is a switching device (1) comprising a breaker mechanism (2), at least one first switching contact (3) and at least one second switching contact, at least the first switching contact (3) being a movable switching contact. A current path through the switching device (1) is closed when the two switching contacts (3) are in contact. The breaker mechanism (2) has a pivotally mounted switching lever (4), a latch (5) and a latching point (6), and the breaker mechanism (2) is connected at least indirectly to the first switching contact (3) in order to control the movement of the first switching contact (3). The disclosed switching device (1) has a covering device (50) that covers the latching point (6) in at least some regions, preferably substantially completely, when the switching contacts (3) are separated and the latch (5) is disengaged from the latching point (6).
