[origin: WO2013076428A1] The invention relates to a method for identifying and separating wood-based materials, characterised in that it comprises the following steps: providing a plurality of wood samples for recycling; exposing each of said samples to at least one laser source emitting monochromatic radiation in order to ablate each sample and generate, for said sample, emitted rays the wavelengths of which correspond to those of chemical elements present in the sample; obtaining, from the emitted rays coming from each sample, spectral information relating to at least certain wavelength emitted from chemical elements present in the sample; comparing, with one or more reference signatures obtained beforehand, the spectral information thus obtained or physical quantities obtained from said spectral information; and separating the samples depending on the result obtained in the comparing step.
