Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2013087267A1] A haptic gas pedal (11) for a motor vehicle (1) and a method for controlling a haptic gas pedal (11) are disclosed. A force is applied against an actuation direction (7) to a pedal element (5) by an actuator (13) which can cooperate with the pedal element (5) via an actuating device (27) displaceable by a motor (23). The motor (23) is a DC motor which is coupled to the actuating device (27) by a gear unit (25). The DC motor and the gear unit make it possible to achieve high forces using a compact design and at low material and production costs. The actuator (13) of the haptic gas pedal (11) can be controlled by a control unit (3) such that outside a signal phase in which a counterforce is to be applied to the pedal element (5), an operative connection between the pedal element (5) and the actuator (13) is interrupted. Preferably, the actuator (13) is then moved into a neutral position where, requiring no energy, it can pause until being moved into a stand-by position just prior to a subsequent signal phase in which it can quickly re-engage the pedal element, thus allowing the haptically perceptible signal to be generated on short notice so as to combine minimal energy consumption with a quick response time.
