[origin: WO2013087379A1] An embodiment of a component (100) comprises at least one section (110) which comprises a steel where the section (110) extends from a surface (120) of the component (100) into an interior of the component (100), and an outer zone (130) in the section (110) which directly adjoins the surface (120) of the component (100) and in which a proportion of a chemical element changes in a measurable way in the steel. The steel in the outer zone (130) has, at least in sections, a microstructure having grains having an index of 5 or above in accordance with ASTM-E 112 (2010 edition), where the steel has a proportion of chromium which is not more than 7% by weight and the steel additionally comprises tantalum in a proportion by weight of more than 0.4% by weight, niobium in a proportion by weight of more than 0.1% by weight, titanium in a proportion by weight of more than 0.12% by weight or vanadium in a proportion by weight of more than 0.05% by weight. Such a component (100) can thus have a smaller grain size after a heat treatment in the course of its production.
