[origin: EP2610019A1] The die (11) has a tool body (26) whose tool aperture is extended across the tool body, for engagement with a punching stamper (15) of a punching tool (14). A front end (21) of the tool body supports a work piece (17). A cutting edge (33) surrounds the tool aperture. The cutting edge is surrounded by a circulating recess (32), which is passed into the front end. The cutting edge is formed by a chip surface, which is passed into a base surface of the circulating recess. A plateau plane is provided between the cutting edge and the chip surface.
