Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Offenend-Rotorspinnmaschine (1), die eine Vielzahl von Arbeitsstellen (4) aufweist, welche jeweils über eine Spinnvorrichtung (5) mit einem unterdruckbeaufschlagbaren Rotorgehäuse (21), in dem ein Spinnrotor (23) mit hoher Drehzahl umläuft, zur Fertigung eines Fadens (16) sowie eine Spulvorrichtung (7) zur Herstellung einer Kreuzspule (18) verfügen, wobei die Verbindung der Arbeitsstellen zu einer zentralen Unterdruckversorgung abschaltbar ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist vorgesehen, dass das Beaufschlagen des Rotorgehäuses mit Unterdruck auf die Spinnvorrichtungen, die Garn produzieren sowie die Spinnvorrichtungen, die neu anspinnen, beschränkt wird.
