[origin: WO2012084874A1] The invention relates to a thermal insulation device, capable of insulating a surface subjected to a transverse mechanical load, referred to as a service load, said device including: a) first (201) and second (202) panels; b) a separating means (240) capable of maintaining said two panels (201, 202) separated from one another by a distance ev in a transverse direction (210) when said panels are subjected to the service load and by a distance ei in the absence of a load; said separating means comprising: bi) a first plurality of rigid spacers (231), having a height he, engaging with the inner surface (221) of the first panel (201); bii) a second plurality of rigid spacers (232), having a height of at least he, engaging with the inner surface (222) of the second panel (202); and biii) a transversely resilient linking means (240) forming a spring, having a transverse height when subjected to a load, and being capable of clamping the rigid spacers against the inner surfaces (221, 222) of the panels.
