Abstract (en)
An ink transfer apparatus for transferring liquid to at least one roller of a sheet printing apparatus (2) having a blanket cylinder (8) for applying ink to a sheet (4) of material is disclosed. The ink transfer apparatus comprises ink transfer rollers (14, 16, 18, 20) for transferring ink to a plate cylinder (22) and a first motor (24) for causing rotation of the ink transfer rollers, and a controller (28) for receiving a first input signal dependent on an operating parameter of the first motor. The controller receives a second input signal dependent on an operating parameter of a second motor (36) for causing rotation of the blanket cylinder for applying liquid to the sheet of material, and controls the first and second motors in dependence on the first and second input signals to reduce relative movement between a location on a surface an ink transfer roller touching the plate cylinder and a location on a surface of the plate cylinder touching the ink transfer roller.
