[origin: WO2013110421A1] A system for generating and/or storing energy on an electrochemical basis comprises at least one flow-through cell, through each of which two differently charged electrolyte fluids (21, 22) flow, said flow-through cell made up of half cells separated by means of a membrane, at least one electrode being arranged in said half cells, and one tank for each of the electrolyte fluids. In order to reduce and/or completely eliminate the harmful influence of hydrogen formation in the cell in a simple and inexpensive manner, a common gas volume (23) connecting the tanks is provided and at least one catalyst (24) for reducing the positive reaction partner of the redox pair is brought into contact with the positive electrolyte fluid (22) in the tank for the electrolyte fluid (22) and arranged with the common gas volume (23).
