[origin: WO2013111034A2] An audio rendering system comprises a first speaker arrangement (107) rendering audio to a listening position (103) predominantly along non-reflected acoustic paths and a second speaker arrangement (115) rendering audio to predominantly along reflected acoustic paths. An audio renderer (101) comprises an upmixer (203) for upmixing a channel signal of a multi-channel audio signal to a first audio signal and a second audio signal corresponding to more diffuse sound than the first audio signal. The upmixing is in response to a correlation measure for two channels of the multi-channel signal. The correlation measure is generated by a correlation estimator (213). Drivers (205, 207) drive the first and second speaker arrangements (107, 115) from the first and second audio signals respectfully. The approach may provide a more enveloping audio experience without introducing positional errors for specific sound sources.
