Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2511148A] A grill arrangement 10 of a ventilation system comprises a support structure located in an opening in a surface (ceiling), a plurality of spaced curved vanes 14 mounted to the support structure whereby the vanes urge a flow of air entering the grill arrangement from outside the surface to be turned towards a direction parallel to the surface. The grill may comprise of four 12, two (24, fig 3) or one section(s) (32, fig 5). The vanes may comprise an arcuate portion 16 and a tangential portion 18, and arranged sequentially towards a centre of the arrangement. Arcuate portions of the vanes may have an equispaced gap and the gap may reduce in size at the tangential portion to accelerate the air. An angle of a line connecting the top of the arcuate portions relative to the horizontal may be 10 degrees. The vanes may be configured with no line of sight through the arrangement. A central section of the arrangement may provide direct ventilation therethough or may be closed. The ventilation system may be a natural ventilation system or hybrid system (fig 12) comprising a fan. Modular extensions (74) may be used to make the grill larger.
