The reciprocating compressor (100) includes: a partition member (150) partitioning the suction chamber (141) into a first space portion (141a) connected to the suction passage (104a) and a second space portion (141b) connected to the suction hole (103a), and a suction throttle valve (250) that adjusts the area of an opening of a housing (253), the a suction throttle valve (250) being configured to increase the opening area as a pressure difference between the first space portion (141a) and the second space portion (141b) is increased and to decrease the opening area as the pressure difference is decreased.
