[origin: WO2013127528A1] The present invention relates to a method for the pasteurization of fine-cut tobacco (1), in particular laminar tobacco, with a cut width of 0.5 mm to 0.9 mm, wherein the tobacco (1) is arranged in a closed package (2). Then, the tobacco (1) in the package (2) is heated such that the tobacco (1) is pasteurized. The invention further relates to a device for the pasteurization of tobacco (1), comprising a packing station (3), a heating station (5) and optionally a cooling station (6). The invention also relates to a packaged tobacco product.
