[origin: EP2824773A1] The present invention relates to an electrical connector assembly (10) comprising a housing (200) and a mate assist mechanism comprising a lever (100) pivotably arranged on the housing (200). The lever is adapted to be movable from a preliminary mating position to a fully mated position, and the connector assembly (10) comprises holding means (120; 130) to releasably hold the lever (100) in the preliminary mating position. This is achieved by locking protrusions (121; 131), being adapted to be flexibly movable in one direction and corresponding locking receptions (122; 132) receiving said locking protrusion (121; 131) when the lever is in the preliminary mating position.
