[origin: EP2829304A1] Apparatus and associated methods relate to an air-fed protective suit (120, 200, 300, 400, 605, 705, 815) having a breathing filter (130, 205, 305, 415, 505, 620, 710, 810) detachably coupled to the suit. In some embodiments, the air-fed suit may have an interior tear strip (320, 330, 425) to provide for filter seal and/or for removal from the air-fed protective suit. In some examples, the air-fed suit may include a sealed flap (310, 500, 630, 720, 820) which the user (125, 135, 210) can open to expose the filter to the atmosphere exterior to the suit. Some embodiments may provide a user accessible mouthpiece (220, 420, 625, 805) connected to the filter via a breathing tube (205, 800) permitting the user to breathe the exterior atmosphere through the filter. The filter may perform tritium filtration (810) of exterior atmospheric gases inhaled therethrough, for example. When exiting a contaminated area (105), for example, a user may first enter an airlock (110), detach the filter, remove the suit and then exit the airlock while continuing to breathe through the detached filter.
