Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2500612A] An audio/video (A/V) content receiver includes a content decoder capable of concurrently decoding multiple A/V programmes from a single packetized data stream by using data packets defining decryption information. The receiver receives encoded content as multiple packetized data streams, each stream comprising programme(s) having data packets identified by sets of packet identifier(s), each packetized data stream comprising identification data mapping programmes to respective sets of the packet identifiers and service data including security authorisation data for content receivers. The receiver generates a composite packetized data stream having programme and service data from multiple packetized data streams and applies (460) a digital security indicator (e.g. signature) to at least the service data included in the composite stream. The composite stream is then supplied to the decoder for decoding multiple programmes from the composite stream according to the packet identifiers. The validity of the digital security indicator applied to the service data is detected (462), and in response to the service data, whether the receiver is authorised to decode the received programme data is established.
