[origin: WO2013153213A1] The invention relates to a cutting insert (20) for a cutting tool for machining workpieces, which cutting insert has a contact face (24) and a rake face (22) that is opposite the contact face in a plane-parallel manner and has the same basic geometric shape, on which rake face at least one cutting edge (28) is formed. According to the invention, in a top view of the rake face (22), the at least one cutting edge (28) is angled outward by a predetermined angle delta relative to the corresponding edge of the contact surface, while all other outer edges of the rake face (22) extend parallel to the corresponding edges of the bottom face (24). The service life of the cutting insert (20) can thereby be increased.
