[origin: WO2013167253A1] The invention relates to an electrical series terminal (1) and a series terminal block (100) comprising two series terminals (1) for mechanical engineering and industrial usage. A series terminal (1) has a first connecting section (10) and a second connecting section (20), and a functional zone (2) between the first connecting section (10) and the second connecting section (20). The first connecting section (10) is connected via an associated current bar (11) to a first functional contact (12). The second connecting section (20) is connected via an associated current bar (21) to a second functional contact (22). The functional zone (2) is suitable for and designed for selectively and alternately receiving and contacting various functional elements (3-6). When a functional element (3) is introduced into the functional zone (2), the functional element (3) can be connected to the first and second functional contact (12, 22). On the sides of the functional zone (2), two connecting shafts (13, 14; 23, 24) are provided on the first and second connecting sections (10, 20), respectively.
