[origin: WO2013175001A1] A damping unit (1) for a lift, for reducing vertical oscillation of a car (2) during a standstill period, has brake-shoe holders (8, 8') provided with brake shoes (7, 7'). The brake-shoe holders (8, 8') are connected to an electric motor (4) via a toothed-gearing mechanism. The damping unit (1) also comprises a spring device (6), which is configured as a metallic bending spring and is arranged between the car and a carrier structure (20) for the brake-shoe holders (8, 8').
