[origin: WO2013189488A1] The invention relates to a method for detecting degradation products of biological molecules in layers of a layer system (1), in which excitation radiation (3) is applied to the degradation products and radiation (6) induced by the excitation radiation (3) is detected and a concentration of the degradation products is determined on the basis of a comparison of the measured values of the radiation (6) with reference data. The method is characterised in that a layer system (1) is provided, which comprises a passage layer (1.1) transparent to the excitation radiation (3) and the radiation (6), and at least one further receptor layer containing the degradation products, and in that the excitation radiation (3) is directed right through the passage layer (1.1) into the receptor layer. The invention also relates to a device and to a portable meter (11) for detecting the degradation products.
