[origin: WO2014003637A1] The method and a control unit for controlling a regenerative brake system in a vehicle for which there is a defined maximum speed vmax which the vehicle should not exceed are presented. According to the present invention at least one predicted speed vpred for the vehicle on a section of road is determined. If the at least one predicted speed vpred exceeds the maximum speed vmax along the section of road, the regenerative brake system is then activated before an actual speed vact of the vehicle reaches the maximum speed vmax. The result is braking over more time and with less power than in previous known solutions, making it possible for the regenerative brake system to utilise more of the brake energy than in previous known systems.
