The retainer (3) comprises a main body (20) connectable to the component (2), and a mounting element (21) that, in order to mount the main body (20) on the attachment structure (23), extends along a longitudinal axis (22) of a through-bore (24) of the main body (20), passing through the through-bore (24) of the main body (20) and a damping element (25) arranged in the through-bore (24). A mounting sleeve (26) is additionally provided. The damping element (25) surrounds an outer side (39) of the mounting sleeve (26). In addition, the damping element (25) is connected with a form fit to the mounting sleeve (26) along the longitudinal axis (22) at least on one side. The damping element (25) is connected with a form fit to the main body (20) along the longitudinal axis (22) at least on one side. Thus an effective damping of vibrations, which can be transmitted particularly from the component (2) to the attachment structure (23) is enabled. A fuel injection system (1) with a fuel distributor (2) and at least such a retainer (3, 4, 5) used for mounting the fuel distributor (2) on the attachment structure (23) is also specified.
