[origin: WO2014016006A1] The invention relates to a burner having surface combustion which comprises a burner head (12) having a housing (14) and has an upstream inlet cover (31) on the end face which can be connected to a supply (18) for a fuel-air-mixture and comprises a sealing cover (32) on the end face, opposite the inlet cover (31), and has a pipe (33), having a cylindrical outlet side, between the inlet cover (31) and the sealing cover (32) of the housing (14), which is formed by a flashback barrier (17) and a cloth membrane (16) arranged downstream of the flashback barrier (17), wherein the flashback barrier (17) and the cloth membrane (16) each consist of a laminar material which is formed into a pipe section, wherein, to connect two axially or radially opposite face edges (68, 69) of the flashback barrier (17) and the cloth membrane (16), a connecting element (81) is provided, which has receiving regions (91) which are at least designed in sections and are arranged in mirror image to each other and which are connected to each other.
