[origin: WO2014029469A1] The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for packaging groups of articles (1) which are combined to form packaging units (2). First of all here, the respective packaging unit (2) is sheathed in a film (3), as seen in its running direction (L) on a transporting path (T), this simultaneously resulting in the formation of a film cover (4) and folding flaps (5, 6, 7, 8), which project beyond the packaging unit (2) in each case along transverse peripheries. The folding flaps (5, 6, 7, 8) are then positioned against the packaging unit (2), as the latter runs through a folding unit (9), and subsequently, and/or at the same time, form a film wrapper which is closed on all sides. According to the invention, the folding flaps (5, 6, 7, 8) are positioned in relation to one another and, at the same time, in the first instance fixed on a preliminary basis in relation to one another by the action of heat. The packaging unit (2) as a whole is then fixed on a definitive basis, once again by the action of heat.
