[origin: WO2014040744A1] The invention relates to a method and apparatus for generating fuel gas from a solid in a shaft gasifier, and comprises: a gasifying zone, into which the solid can be introduced via a filling opening, and an oxidation zone, designed for oxidation of the generated gas, which communicates with the gasifying zone for the purpose of passing the gas generated in the gasifying zone into the oxidation zone. In accordance with the invention, a first air supply means and a second air supply means supply air to the gasifying zone, with the second air supply means sited downstream of the first air supply means in the processing direction of the solid. Further provided is a measuring unit for the purpose of determining a measuring signal, which is designed for determining a qualitative or quantitative amount of predefined gas components of the crude gas generated in the oxidizing zone or of the ignitable product gas, and which characterizes said amount in the measuring signal; and a control device is present, which is coupled in signal engineering terms with the measuring unit, for the purpose of transmission of the measuring signal, and is configured such that it controls the amount of air to be supplied by the second air supply means, as a function of the measuring signal.
