The invention is based on the problem of providing a method and a device (10) for the form-fitting holding of a drill head (44) provided for earth drilling, which simplify the connection of a drill head (44) to an element (58) of a drill pipe. A device (10) according to the invention for the form-fitting holding of a drill head (44) provided for earth drilling comprises the following elements: a) a claw-like holding structure (12) for at least partially engaging around a gripping section (48) formed above a drill head (44), and b) a housing (14) having a circular or polygonal outer contour for holding in a clamping manner by way of a clamping/screwing device, said housing (14) being connected or connectable to the holding structure (12) for conjoint rotation.
