[origin: WO2014048420A1] The invention illustrates and describes a deformation element (1) for protecting a device (10) in a vehicle by transforming energy into energy of deformation under the action of a blast, with an upper fastening region (2) to be fastened to the device (10) and a lower fastening region (3) to be fastened to the vehicle, wherein the two fastening regions are connected together via an upper leg (4) and a lower leg (5). To achieve a more compact construction overall and thereby to save space, weight and costs on the vehicle as a whole, it is proposed that the two legs (4, 5) are arranged substantially in a V-shape in relation to one another.
