[origin: WO2014049265A1] The invention concerns a management method for putting a piece of communication equipment (CPL2) involved in a plurality of connections between terminal devices (IAD, STB, PC) of a communication network in standby, the method comprising the following steps: - detecting (EV FIN CBB) that one of said connections is switching from an active state, in which data is transmitted via said connection, to an inactive state, in which no data is transmitted via said connection; - keeping (EV/M CBB) the communication equipment switched on if at least one other of said connections is in an active state; - putting the communication equipment (MV) on standby if none of said connections is in an active state.
