Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2015118050A1] The invention relates to an ingot mould (2) for continuous casting of steel and similar materials, having a plurality of actuators (5a to 5d), which are arranged distributed around the circumference, generate vibrations directed transversely to the longitudinal axis of the ingot mould, and are synchronised to each other in terms of phase such that the vibrations move along the inner wall of the ingot mould (2) in a wave-like manner from top to bottom. The transversely directed vibrations minimise the friction between the cast strand and the ingot mould and in addition produce a downwardly directed displacement force on the shell walls of the strand. Transport of the strand within the ingot mould (2) is activated thereby, and the casting process is thus considerably supported and consequently improved.
