[origin: WO2014057263A1] A method of identifying the risk of a patient with chronic kidney disease (CKD) requiring renal replacement therapy (RRT) within a predetermined period of time comprising determining a value of free light chains (FLC), preferably combined FLC, in a sample from a patient, comparing the value with a predetermined value and assigning a risk score to that value of FLC in the sample to indicate the risk of the patient requiring RRT over a predetermined length of time.
