[origin: WO2014060211A1] A fuel cell system is described, with a fuel cell unit (12) comprising at least one anode (46) and one cathode (42), which are electrically contacted with one another via an electrolyte (16a-16d, 40, 52a-52c), wherein a fuel gas is applied to the anode (46) and an oxygen-containing gas, particularly air, is applied to the cathode (42) via air-guiding components (18, 22) of the fuel cell system (10). At least in the region of the air-guiding components (18, 22), a material (24) that absorbs or adsorbs chromium compounds is provided, which material is in contact with the oxygen-containing gas mixture fed to the cathode (42).
