A fast lock and release system (100) for quickly locking a tool (T) in, and releasing it from, the working arm (A) of an operating machine, wherein an adaptor member (200) is designed to be fixed to the tool (T) and a lock and release device (300) is designed to be fixed to the working arm (A); the lock and release device (300) being designed to be locked in and released from the adaptor member (200) thus quickly locking said tool (T) in, and respectively releasing it from, the working arm (A), wherein the device (300) comprises fixed engagement means (304) and translatable engagement means (306) designed to engage with corresponding abutment means of the adaptor member (200) and wherein the device (300) comprises safety means (407) that can be translated from a back position to a forward position and conversely, wherein in the forward position these safety means engage with the same abutment means of the adaptor member (200) which engage the fixed engagement means (304) of the device (300).
