[origin: WO2014067864A1] The present invention relates to a method for producing a fiber-reinforced plastic component (1), comprising at least the method steps of: cutting individual fiber mats (5); stacking a plurality of fiber mats (5) to a semi-finished fiber product (4) outside or inside of a mold (30; 20) that comprises at least two mold halves (31, 32; 21, 22); carrying out a preforming step for producing a fiber preform (3) for the plastic component (1); and carrying out an RTM step for producing a main form (2) of the plastic component (1). The method according to the invention is characterized by the application and/or introduction of a sealant material (6), which is suitable as a sealant and extends around at least to some extent, to individual, several and/or all fiber mats (5) and/or to the semifinished fiber product (4), prior to, at the same time and/or after the above steps. The sealant material is applied and/or introduced such that prior to the RTM step at the latest all fiber pores and spaces between fibers in a preferably all-around edge zone (3a) of the fiber preform (3) are closed by the sealant material (6).
