[origin: GB2514820A] An article for footwear comprising an elongated member 110 and an aesthetic member 120, the aesthetic member having an inner surface configured to attach to an outer surface of the elongated member via an attachment means; the ends of the elongated member being joined together via a connecting means. The elongated member may comprise a length adjusting means. Preferably the article has a sheath that is positioned around the heel of the item of footwear, the ends of the elongated member being secured to the sheath. Also claimed is an article for footwear where the ends of the elongated member are secured to opposite sides of the footwear via a connecting means, and an article for footwear having an elongated member where the ends of the member are joined together via a connecting means. The attachment and connecting means may comprise hooks, buttons, snaps, magnets, clips, clasps, rings, buckles or hook and loop material.
