[origin: WO2014067744A1] The invention describes a gas premix burner (100) comprising a porous combustion surface (120, 140, 142), on which when the burner (100) is in use combustion occurs after the premix gas has flown through it, a fiber based cloth (120) forming at least part of the porous combustion surface (120, 140, 142); and a perforated plate (110), a woven wire mesh or expanded metal sheet. The fiber based cloth (120) is supported by the perforated plate (110), woven wire mesh or expanded metal sheet. One or more zones (140, 142) of the porous combustion surface (120, 140, 142) is or are not formed by the fiber based cloth (120), but by another porous substrate. The one or more zones (140, 142) are along their full circumference surrounded by the fiber based cloth (120).
