[origin: WO2014072224A1] The invention relates to a protective body armor having a front opening. The protective device is to cover at least a portion of the torso and back of a user, and includes at least one back portion (6), provided with at least one pad made of an elastically compressible material, for covering at least a portion of the back of the user, and at least two side portions (8, 9), which extend forward from either side of the back portion (6) and each of which define an arm hole (14) together with the back portion (6). The protective device further includes at least two front portions (2, 4) each of which is provided with at least one pad made of an elastically compressible material, each front portion (2, 4) being attached to one of the side portions (8, 9), respectively, and being provided with means (22) for removably attaching to the other front portion (2, 4), such that said front portions (2, 4) cover at least a portion of the torso of the user when said front portions are attached to one another.
