[origin: WO2014079892A1] The invention first relates to a refrigerating device (1) with a refrigerating compartment (6) for receiving products to be refrigerated, comprising: at least one evaporator (11) for cooling air flowing around the products to be refrigerated; at least one fan for circulating the air from the refrigerating compartment (6) through the at least one evaporator (11) and back into the refrigerating compartment (6); a finned heat exchanger (12) on an inlet side (13) of the at least one evaporator (11), the air flowing into the at least one evaporator (11) through said heat exchanger; a coolant, by means of which heat can be extracted from the air in the at least one evaporator (11); and an irradiating device (14) which can generate blue light (wavelength λ of 420 to 490 nm) or red light (wavelength λ of 630 to 790 nm). The invention further relates to a method for operating such a refrigerating device (1). In order to reduce the refrigerating device (1) being contaminated with Penicillium, the finned heat exchanger (12) is irradiated with the blue or red light.
