Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zum Formen des Rückenbereiches und/oder der daran angrenzenden Falzbereiche einer Buchdecke vor dem Einhängen des Buchblockes durch ein den Rückenbereich aus der gestreckten Ausganglage gegen die Deckelpappen oder die Falzbereiche niederhaltende Schienen aushebendes Formstück, wobei die formgebende Geometrie des Formstückes durch motorische Verstellungen veränderbar ist, wobei jedem der zu einem Basiselement verstellbaren die Buchdecke formenden Element ein separater Verstellantrieb zugeordnet ist.
