[origin: WO2014086669A1] Disclosed is a device (2) for actuating an electromagnetic lift brake (3) for, in particular, a lift system, comprising at least two outlets (24, 25), which are connected to a coil (5) of the electromagnetic lift brake (3), and a control system (30). Also provided is a switchable dissipation device (20), which is connected to the two outlets (24, 25). In a rapid actuation operating mode, the control unit (30) switches the switchable dissipation device (20) such that the magnetic energy stored in the coil (5) dissipates rapidly. Rapid actuation of the lift brake (3) is thus made possible. Further disclosed are a brake device (1) comprising such a device (2), a lift system, and a method for actuating an electromagnetic lift brake (3).
