[origin: WO2014087069A1] The invention relates to a method for merging postal matter (3) with post that has been sorted in a machine and is arranged in a stack on its side, in an ordered sequence of postal items (12), comprising the steps of first forming a digital image of said postal matter (3) including a postal distribution address (6), then, from the data produced in said sorting machine and from said digital image, determining a site in said ordered sequence of the postal items (12) where said postal matter (3) is to be inserted in order to carry out the merging, and finally, producing a locating signal that directly visually designates said site in the stack in order to help an operator (5) to perform said merging.
