[origin: WO2014086926A1] The invention relates to a tool (10) for machining a workpiece in a machining device, having a connecting region (41), preferably a standardized connecting region, which is on the machine side during operation for connecting the tool to a numerically controlled machine tool, a tool region (43) which is on the workpiece side during operation for machining the workpiece, and a central region (42) between the tool region (43) and the connecting region (41). The tool region has one or more workpiece-side suction air openings (15) which communicate with a suction air channel (16) in the interior of the tool region, said suction air channel leading to the central region (42) of the tool. A connection (11) which is offset laterally relative to the tool axis is provided in the central region for a suction air connection (38, 39).
