Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2014086489A1] The invention relates to an internal combustion engine (1) having a plurality of cylinders which are assigned in each case two inlet valves and two outlet valves, which are arranged in each case in a valve receptacle (3, 4, 5, 6) of a cylinder head (2) of the internal combustion engine (1), and a coolant plenum chamber (8) and a coolant collection chamber (9), wherein two coolant ducts (10, 11) are configured in the cylinder head (2) for each cylinder, which coolant ducts (10, 11) are connected in flow terms in each case to the corresponding coolant plenum chamber (8) and the corresponding coolant collection chamber (9). It is provided here that a first of the coolant ducts (10) runs on a first side about a first of the inlet valves and on a second side which lies opposite the first side around a first of the outlet valves, and that a second of the coolant ducts (11) runs on the first side around a second of the inlet valves and on the second side around a second of the outlet valves.
