[origin: WO2014089589A1] The invention relates to a method and device for training in the insertion of an umbilical catheter (1) on a premature baby and neonate simulator (2), wherein an umbilical cord simulator (3) is provided with a vein simulator (4) and two artery simulators (5), which umbilical cord simulator (3) can be connected via a connector (6) to the premature baby and neonate simulator (2). In order to create realistic training conditions, at least one position sensor (7) is provided to detect the correct position of the umbilical catheter (1) in the vein simulator (4) or the artery simulators (5), which position sensor (7) is connected to a control device (10) and a display (8).
